It was a 434 foot blast to left-center. When the real Stadium closed in ‘08, the fence out there was 408. In the ‘80s, it was 430, so he still would’ve cleared it. But yeah, in the days when the Yanks were winning titles by the dozens, Death Valley was closer to 500 feet.
Ahh.... But you’re forgetting about all the inside the park home runs that people used to hit in those days, because the outfields were so much bigger.
If I’m not mistaken, the majority of Ty Cobb’s home runs were inside the park.
