Nostalgia for the 1980s is so rampant that even people who weren’t alive during the glorious decade like to celebrate it as if they were. Teens today will even put on tracksuits and Kangol hats and boogie out to the likes of LL Cool J. However, those of us who witnessed the ’80s firsthand aren’t just sentimental for that bygone era. All those cultural cliches that people try to emulate? Yeah, it’s in our DNA. We are the ’80s and the ’80s are us. Keep reading to discover 50 things that any true child of the ’80s won’t just remember, but probably still thinks about on a regular basis. Slow political day, have fun, its saturday, and flame away.
Thanks for posting.
Not sure what to say about the 80’s. Mostly forgettable.
We lived thru Disco ,
We can Survive Anything!
Lotus Notes 1-2-3 and 5 1/2 floppies.
“”””Constantly Anticipating Nuclear War””””
The media pushed this line for millennials? or someone, for years during the 90s? or early 2000s? they kept describing whichever generation it was as “the first generation to grow up fearing nuclear war”, or something like that, which is bizarre for anyone who remembers the 50s and 60s when the daily alarm had us all thinking of it everyday at noon, and city shelters were maintained, while homeowners built their own, and schools practiced drills.
I loved the 80s.
I was in a Christian Rock Band touring New England. I also was the Organist for the Church.
Those were good years for me.
Reagan, Maggie, and JP2...Good Times.
Disco was the 70s. Thankfully it faded away around 1980.
What a fun trip down memory lane - Thanks for posting
The 80’s -had the best and the worst music.
How did they forget Hammer and the parachute pants?! You are right about the music. I only listen to the 70s station when the radio is on.
Ronald Reagan isn’t forgettable. The country was much better off under him.

Disco sucked. I am thankful we all didn’t have camera phones back then so now there is no evidence we were there.
You are right!
That was the best decade of my life for this country.
And Madonna
The 1980s were exciting, when camo was fashion.
The decade of survivalists and mercenaries with many magazines on both, Houston even had a nightclub themed on that with camouflage netting and survivalist themes and guns, a time of a raging left in Europe as the KGB fed deadly anti-Americanism terrorists groups kidnapping, killing, and blowing up stuff.
Reagan was pushing back against Russia all over the world, don’t know how much the public was paying attention but there were brushfires everywhere, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Middle East, on the oceans, in the air, friction and conflict all over as Reagan harassed and bled them wherever he could.
Ugh!
LOL!
Disco was awesome ...
Reagan. That’s enough to make it the greatest decade of the 20th Century right there.
MTV and the music. My choice in listening every time.
