U.S. could take lead watching Ukraine buffer zone if peace deal with Russia comes together
NBC News ^ | 9/5/2025 | Gordon Lubold, Katherine Doyle and Courtney Kube

If a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine ever comes together, the United States could take the lead role in monitoring a large buffer zone inside Ukraine envisioned as a way to protect the country from Russia, according to four people familiar with a plan that military officials from Ukraine’s allies, including the United States, have been discussing.

-snip-

On the latter front, the United States is discussing with Ukraine a deal that could be worth around $100 billion, under which Kyiv would be able to buy American weapons, while in exchange the United States would get intellectual property rights for the cutting-edge systems the Ukrainians have been developing, according to a U.S. official.

The week after Trump met with Putin, Caine briefed Trump on four options for the security guarantee and recommended the most forward-leaning approach, this official said.

Most, if not all the rare earth metals are along the eastern front between Ukraine and Russia. Having American engineers, miners, and businessmen all over that area would serve as a great buffer for both countries.

That's Trump's plan. If they would just cooperate, both countries would get very rich.

I’m calling bullshit. Right here.

Right now.

This is a lie.

Wishful thinking from all you neocon globalists.

Marcus, don’t you and your fellow neocons forget that there’s a FReepathon going on and it’s behind.

U.S. could take lead watching Ukraine buffer zone

Globalists Gordon Lubold, Katherine Doyle, and Courtney Kube of NBC News, the Lying Left and the Delusional Dems would love to see that.

But each nation is sovereign and, as America does, so every other nation must care of its own issues.

Part of the reason this war started was Russia’s concern with having US troops and military hardware next door. We been there, done that with Cuba and the Russian missile hardware in the sixties. The only entity that would want not want US troops patrolling the peace in Ukraine more than the US public is Putin and the Russian public. This is a job for Western Europeans who have a vital national security interest there, not the US who does not have a vital national security interest

From the article” the United States could take the lead role in monitoring a large buffer zone inside Ukraine”…
———————————

Not our war. Putin is correct in finding a lasting solution. Buffer zones, DMZ’s, cease fires, etc. don’t….they just prolong the conflict for another day.

Any involvement of the US is $$$$ billions more wasted at a time we are broke, with no money left to fix our own problems at home or even to continue our government operation……Sep 30th is nearing, with no sign of a budget resolution.

You forgot the Iranian debacle, ( I was next door), Bell, Lockheed, and a handful of US companies were busy supporting the Shah’s military when the Islamists suddenly took over, resulting in a U.S. hostage crisis and the failed rescue attempt, almost sparking yet another war.

President Trump is not President Regan and Russia is not Iran.

We need no boots on the ground—we can watch the borders from Space. Drones can watch and so can high flying aircraft.

True. And unless Trump has a third term (don't count it out), J.D. and/or Rubio aren't soft touches either.

We're back...and ready to kick ass.
