Then in a year or two, they will realize that AI wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, and they will scramble to hire people again.

At lower wages.
I think this in part is being done to pressure people into being part of the singularity.

Last night I read a posting from a software developer who said that AI has made his work 10x more productive. I can see that translating into fewer programmers being hired.
Even though I could be replaced by AI, for some reason I just always like automation. I guess that's because I love to see more get done faster.
I wouldn't mind at all getting pushed into house-flipping. :)

Then in a year or two, they will realize that AI wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, and they will scramble to hire people again. Mostly from India.
Because cost savings.
Because "Smart Business"
(Leaving unstated why the AI, which was also "cost savings" and "smart business" failed so badly.
And wny any of the malignant narcissist CEOs who pushed AI are still employed, or were given large golden parachutes on their way out the door.

I thought that would happen back in 2010 when voice recognition software destroyed the medical transcription field. I’m still waiting for hospital administrators to realize that sending the work to third world countries to be performed by ppl who could barely speak English was a bad idea.
