The Justice Department is reportedly considering banning transgender people from owning firearms in the wake of the school shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
A DOJ source told the Daily Wire that “individuals within the DOJ are reviewing ways to ensure that mentally ill individuals suffering from gender dysphoria are unable to obtain firearms while they are unstable and unwell.
A Justice Department spokesman told the Daily Wire that a “range of options” is being considered “to prevent mentally unstable individuals from committing acts of violence, especially at schools.”
Another officials said, “Democrats have called for common sense gun laws for a long time” and that “this seems pretty common sense to me.”

Well, it is a misguided and misleading title and should be changed in the interests of keeping the VERY IMPORTANT checks and balances distinct in the three branches of gov’t.
“Justice” is distinctly the role of the Judiciary Branch.
“Prosecution” is distinctly a role in the Executive Branch.
“Prosecution” is NOT per se “Justice” as “DOJ” implies.
Time to rename the DOJ to OAG or DOP (Dept of Prosecution) which is really is.

Not that I disagree, but square that with the frequent refrain I see around here: “Shall not be infringed.”
The Department of Justice is in the Executive Branch and is headed by the Attorney General.
Nope. I believe the issue is not just transgender individuals but young adult men on various drugs especially SSRIs. Which would point to a solution of severely restricting the prescription of such drugs in that age group. Something that the federal government actually has the authority to do. But restricting a whole class of persons 2nd Amendment rights is not something that the administration has the authority to do, nor should they have.
