U.S. President Donald Trump told European leaders on Thursday that Europe must stop purchasing Russian oil that he said is helping Moscow fund its war against Ukraine, a White House official said.

Trump joined a call of the "Coalition of the Willing" countries, led by French President Emmanuel Macron, who were meeting on security guarantees for Kyiv in the event of a peace deal with Russia.

"President Macron and European leaders called President Trump into their ‘Coalition of the Willing’ meeting. President Trump emphasized that Europe must stop purchasing Russian oil that is funding the war — as Russia received 1.1 billion euros in fuel sales from the EU in one year," the official said.

"The president also emphasized that European leaders must place economic pressure on China for funding Russia’s war efforts," the official said.

Of course they do, they are a bunch of tyrannical hypocrites.

They need it cheap because their economies are tanking along with the freedom in their countries.

The US itself has been buying refined oil products that originated from Russia. When the EU cut off Russian gas they started paying 3x-4x more getting gas from the US. Seeing as to how Europe is now totally screwed economically I don’t see how long this arrangement will work out. The Euro’s (UK France Germany) seem to think that they can depose Putin and seize Russian natural resources but Trump unlike Biden doesn’t appear to be going along with that idea.

The war is what EU politicians needed because they are governing fir the benefit of their own countries.

It is old political trick - war over there, look over there, don’t look look at the mess at home.

Well put reference to Putin’s motives.

Replacing discounted Russian-origin oil via India with Saudi or US crude would increase EU annual costs by roughly €4–4.7 billion/year.

This explains why Europe has relied on refined products from India despite sanctions: the price difference is significant.

President Trump finally calling out the hypocritical EU for the elephant in the room: EU financing of Putin’s colonialist war of choice. We’re reaching a climax here, IMO.

“Well put reference to Putin’s motives.”

Him too. It’s a snakepit. They’re all treacherous backstabbers.
