Exactly my ‘semi-’sarcastic comment.
It’s been happening with “open source” for quite a while, as well - sure, it’s free. But if you want anything to be ‘production-grade’, you’re paying out the nose in subscription licenses for plugins, themes, security add-ons, blah, blah, blah endlessly.
It’s just another way that WILL be used to stifle free speech - instead of trying the old way of just turning off a switch (which doesn’t work anymore), you have to make it financially unbearable for low-cost communications.
Yes, those who pay for better hosting receive better hosting.
That benefits those who pay for better hosting.
Correct. Whatever point you were trying to make dissipated like yesterday’s farts.
I really don’t know much techie stuff but I do feel that AI, massive data centers, bitcoin farming and the like, that whole computing world, will hugely benefit a select few while burdening everyone else.
Among other things, the electricity demands are astronomical and come what may, no matter what, a considerable portion of that huge additional cost will be paid by everyone in their monthly power bills, with no direct benefit for the recipient.
