“”THE ENTIRE PROGRAM NEEDS TO BE CHANGED===AND RECALIBRATED TO SEE WHO IS GETTING SUPPORT THEY SHOULD NOT GET””

That’s correct. If they are loading up their carts, paying with SNAP and then getting into brand new vehicles, something is awry. And that has been the case far too often. Too much EBT fraud, too much Medicare fraud, too much Medicaid fraud. Eliminate the fraud first and maybe ‘then’ worry about the other stuff involved with welfare.

“You can get juice without sugar.”

The least expensive 100% juice without sugar added is apple juice made from concentrate. This concentrate is usually made in China....shipped here. It comes from other places too. Then water is added in USA (reconstituted) to make juice. Its OK. I have bought it many times at Aldis ($2.15 for 2x quart size) and Walmart at a similar price.
Juice not made from concentrate sells at a premium, it is 50% to 100% more expensive.

RFK Jr should definitely make it so that food stamps aka EBT cannot be used to buy junk foods and sugary sodas and drinks. Such as fake apple juice, and fake other juices that are really half water with sugar/high fructose corn syrup added.
Since many EBT mamas are so freaking dumb that they buy these “juices” for their children. Make is so that they cannot buy them with EBT.

RFK Jr! How about no more EBT to buy candies and junk foods that harm your children and give them diabetes and pre-diabetes. That the taxpayers are then on the hook to treat via Medicaid.

Secy RFK Jr: “We spend $405 million tax dollars a day on food stamps. 10% goes to sugary
drinks. Another 8% goes to candies. So we are poisoning 60% of our kids on food stamps.”

“”No wonder we have a nation full of lard asses. And all the heart problems and diabetes that goes along with obesity.””

I hate to break it to you, but food stamps have nothing to do with it. When I was around ten years old, my parents took me to a beach in Virginia. The beach was chock full of obese/fat, white people. It looked like a beached whale convention. And that was “decades” ago. The obese problem has been around way before the EBT problem.

My proposal for welfare reform:

Cap Section 8 for a household at:
1. 40% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the first adult,
2. 30% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the second adult,
3. 10% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the first child,
4. 10% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the second child.

Make welfare payment for a child other than the first of a mother only payable after age 2.

Make disability payments for children under 18 payable only to school districts.

Have additional welfare benefits come out of a federal lifetime fund, say $10,000 upon which interest at the CPI growth rate plus 3% might be paid so it doesn’t get all used up ASAP.

SNAP benefits, other housing help, Obamaphones, juvenile criminal court costs, Medicaid ER human provider service costs, possible student loan write-offs, and the first year of Social Security retirement benefits would all come out of it.

To pay for that $10,000, the standard Social Security age thresholds might be raised by one year and then by say one month every four years as the interest compounds for a real gain of 3% per year. Working people would to a great extent get retirement benefits on time. Moochers would lose at retirement age considerably more than they mooched earlier. It wouldn’t generally pay off to mooch.

A lot of times when kids crave surgar it means their bodies need more fresh fruit. Maybe fruit could be ‘discounted’ when bought with food stamp cards...

Are you just being obtuse? Are you the only one who doesn’t get it? Sheesh.

I hear the “choice” argument from conservatives all the time. I really can’t believe people are that obtuse. Have all the sweets and fats you want. Just don’t expect me to pay for them

“”The Government already dictates what our children should eat with their breakfast and lunch school programs.””

Yes. Remember Michelle Obama’s dictates on what kids should eat in school? How did that one go? So to some here, anything government dictates kids should eat will be ok? I think not. Since when has government dictates ever been a ‘good choice’ for Americans?

I see people griping about how their taxpayer money is spent... and yet the Democrats always spend taxpayer money on stuff taxpayers don’t want it spent on. But yeah, let’s give them even more excuses to rule over Americans that aren’t affluent enough to ‘pay income taxes’.

Are you rethinking your “ALL people should be allowed to choose what to eat.”?

I feel no personal responsibility. It’s their parents or whoever is raising these kids who make the choices. But I get his point.

If you want healthy children - GET RID of food stamps entirely

The best and most healthy food is, ironically, also the cheapest.

I can buy no sugar juice in the juice section of al my local groceries. It is more expensive but I don’t drink juice everyday, all day.

Don’t know why you can’t. Amazon sells it too.

Hardly a need to get snippy over no sugar juice Yes?

It's bizarre. He wants every American (hint: not just kids on SNAP) to wear a trackable health monitor.

There is a silver lining to that kind of bizarre idea. The outlandish proposals make the others look more acceptable.

It's like politicians. Malcolm X made Martin Luther King look more acceptable.

“”There is a silver lining to that kind of bizarre idea. The outlandish proposals make the others look more acceptable.””

Other proposals.... like what, for instance?

My point, which seems to be getting missed, is that RFK Jr. is paving the way for MORE government control and grip over our short hairs. As a Conservative, I am vehemently against anything proposed that does that...as should all Conservatives be. As a Christian, I am leery of anything that gives government (which means Demoncrats) that much power over us. It ain’t rocket science....

except to some, apparently.

Taxpayers shouldn’t fund crap (which is also expensive).

If other people are paying for it, yes, it should be inexpensive and nutritious foods only. I’d go right back to the government cheese, beans, rice, etc.

If you want to start a nonprofit to provide luxury, unhealthy food to poor, you should feel free to do that, however.

“Maybe fruit could be ‘discounted’ when bought with food stamp cards...”

Fructose [fruit sugar] is not a positive in the modern world where food can reliably be obtained.

Fruit is generally a pleasure to eat and as with most things, fine in moderation.

“kids crave surgar”

High sugar food was not available to most Europeans most of the year in the distant past. Kids don’t need to be eating sweet things.

[DISCLOSURE: I’m a sugar, fruit and junk food junkie. I do lots of yard work and walking that minimizes the negatives. I’m not fat.]

Soups and casseroles made mainly with veggies, some meat and some pasta or rice are probably what kiddies should mainly be consuming. Soups contain water that helps fill a stomach and delays food absorption.

Instead of discounts, plus and negative taxes on foods and beverages. If you look around, you’ll see it could pay off big for the Treasury.

“ Before EBT, dirtbags would structure small purchases to get maximum change.”
Now the scam is gift cards. If you have ever been in a Dollar General or other such store you will always see a large wall exclusively for gift cards. A HUGE section with dozens of different types of cards.
Wow, whoever knew that people on the dole were just soo generous!
They actually are not. They are buying gift cards them buying the things they can’t with the snap card.
