Pretty big ship. They knew by 1975 she was broken into "two large pieces".

Probably got caught between two big wave peaks and just cracked open.

Probably got caught between two big wave peaks and just cracked open.

I have read that the ship was longer than the lake deep. It one end struck the bottom while the other was still floating, and it broke in half. The weight of the iron ore was more than the structure could handle in that fashion.
