Re the featured book, "Red: A history of the Redhead" by Jacky Colliss Harvey:
Live online discussion about the book RED from Jacky Colliss Harvey
Through Jacky Colliss Harvey, author of the book RED: A History of Redheads, who regularly attends the RHD, we were introduced to the Redhead Project (redheadproject.net).
This is a collaborative photography project based in New York. The project captures the unique stories and personalities of redheads worldwide. Launched in February 2013, the project currently includes 565 redheads, photographed on four continents.
The Redhead Project book club is launching soon. And you can be a part of it! You can join the co-founders of The Redhead Project (redheadproject.net), New York photographer Keith Barraclough (keithbarraclough.com), and producer Kate Lorenz for a live online conversation from New York with Jacky about her book RED.
The idea is for redheads from all over the world to join.
Subscribe (for free) on Substack at redheadproject.substack.com to receive the event link and join The Redhead Project Book Club discussion, where we invite readers to ask questions and share their insights about Jacky's book before the interview on August 30th.
The official launch of the book club, including the discussion (link included), will be announced soon on Substack, scheduled for August 30th from 5:30-6:30 PM (CEST).
I found Heaven on Earth.
My favorite contribution:
I’m just here for the pictures!
My youngest sister who passed away from cancer in 2020 was a pretty redhead. She would have loved this.
She didn’t post often, but she had a FReeper account - wazoo1031.
This one’s for you, Annie! ♥️
Redhead Festival, aka “Ginger Binger”
Sad. Condolences. I hope she sees it ;-)
This one’s also for a little girl who was not my own from decades ago who remains with great fondness in my heart.
My grandfather always said, “If the roof’s rusty, the basement will be wet”.
I think most redheads, like myself, are of Irish, English and Scot descent. However, my daughter in law, who is 100% Lebanese, has dark red hair, with fair skin. And that is not uncommon for people from that area, including Jews. I think the main difference is red heads like I am, have blue eyes, while those of middle eastern descent have brown eyes. The really rare ones have green eyes; I don’t know where they come from.
My first real crush was red as red can be. We had fun ... but went our separate ways. It would have been a disaster, though.
Lisa, wherever you are, I hope you found happiness.
My oldest grand daughter has red hair that is closer to orange and loads of freckles too!
A PING to my Sis, a redhead from the great state of Texas!
My late Mom was a red head with green eyes.
I was a dark blonde in my youth.
(Before my hair turned silver)
I inherited the green eyes, though!
(and her fiery temper!)
Thanks for the thread, logi cal869!
there was a bumper sticker in the sixties, a take off on the I BRAKE FOR ANIMALS ones.
I BRAKE FOR BLONDS AND BRUNETTES AND BACK UP TEN FEET FOR REDHEADS
Auburn with grey eyes.
I’m 100% scotts/irish and have (had) red hair and brown eyes. My grandson has red hair and blue eyes, his grandparents are me, my italian brunette wife, a mestizo indian and anglo blonde
Marg Helgenberger - a wonderful addition to the redheads.
I married one, so I know exactly how special they can be.
If she had green eyes she’d be perfect.
Likewise.
I hope the same for Tamara.
