Jaw-dropping video captured the moment a teen driver backed his truck off a Massachusetts pier - sending the pickup plunging into the water and narrowly missing his dad's boat.

The dramatic ordeal began when the unidentified teen, who was delivering fish bait at the Green Harbor Town Pier in Marshfield on Sunday morning, suddenly sped up while reversing his white Ford truck, WHDH reported.

Stunned witnesses watched as the truck broke through the dock's wooden barrier and plummeted into the water below.

The truck appeared to topple over as it dropped 15 feet off the dock, barely missing his father's boat while the man was on board.

Miraculously, the teen was able to escape through the truck's back window and swim to the side of the pier, where fishermen pulled him to safety.

After he returned to the dock, the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

He did not sustain any serious injuries.

“He did not sustain any serious injuries.”

At least not until he got home.

The first vehicle I learned to drive was a Hyster forklift when I was 12 years old. I worked for one of my uncle’s who was a masonry contractor during the summer. I also did my share of carrying bricks, mixing mortar and shoveling dirt.

The miracle is you lived to tell about it!

No kidding. I was doing a left turn in a '72 Pinto when the center padded/horn popped off and stuck btwn the steering wheel.

I continued turning left, couldn't get the wheel to turn back - and went into a field.

Thank God there were no vehicles or structures in the path!

“The Ford Pinto, introduced in 1970, was prone to explosions and fires due to a poorly designed fuel tank. The tank was positioned behind the rear axle, and could be punctured by the axle’s bolts during a rear-end collision, even at moderate speeds. The filler neck could also tear out, spilling fuel that could be ignited by sparks, cigarettes, or the colliding car. The Pinto’s rear structure couldn’t absorb impacts well, allowing flames and fuel to enter the cabin.”

My dad bought a wagon version, metallic green complete with faux wood grain body panels and green and white checkered vinyl roof.....all these decades later it’s still without a doubt THE most hideous car I’ve ever had the misfortune of laying eyes on......a real pizza chit that thing was.

Real data showed the Pinto to be as safe or safer than similar cars at that time.

The Pinto was better than a POS Vega!

Yep. My daughter is in early 20s, NO interest in driving and ubers everywhere. Although... I did just get a really adorable little replacement to my Mom van — little red speed buggy Chevy.

She’s a little more interested in driving.

And honestly, if I can upgrade to a Sport Ute in the future, she can have the speedbuggy (which honestly isn’t that much of a speed buggy, although it looks like one.)
