Arlington House, whose grounds are now the Cemetery, was the home of George Washington Parke Custis, Martha’s grandson. George and Martha Washington raised him from the time he was about 4 yrs old.
Parke Custis was also the father in law of Robert E Lee. The link of the Washington and Lee families goes back many generations in Virginia.
Anyway the same forces that extirpated Lee’s name from the high school are the same ones who have let naked male sex offenders share a locker room with 8 year old girls.
This shouldn’t be a surprise.
