The Department of Homeland Security Headquarters Office of Policy has announced plans to award a potential $100 million contract to procure counter-unmanned aircraft systems capabilities.
According to the forecast notice published Wednesday on the Acquisition Planning Forecast System, the DHS is seeking potential contractors to deliver c-UAS capabilities that will be utilized against evolving threats from unauthorized or malicious UAS. The capabilities will be used to detect, track, identify and mitigate UAS threats over a wide range of operational environments. The planned acquisition is intended to reinforce defense capabilities against threats to critical infrastructure, public safety and national security.
The potential indefinite-delivery contract will be awarded during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. It is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2030, and the place of performance will be Washington, DC.

“Counter-unmanned aircraft systems capabilities” = defensive drones
I know. But add this to AI, and this is the kind of thing that will ultimately be used against us when the worst of the worst regain control of our government. Call me a conspiracy nut; it won’t hurt my feelings.
They are doing what they should be doing, albeit a little late.
