Nigel Farage has a new 'leave' campaign - here's how it could work and how it might impact you [European Convention on Human Rights]

Nigel Farage has said he would take the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) if Reform win the next election.

The party's leader also reaffirmed his pledge to repeal the Human Rights Act and disapply three other international treaties acting as "roadblocks" to deporting anyone entering the UK illegally.

In a speech about tackling illegal migration, he said a Reform government would detain and deport any migrants arriving illegally, including women and children, and they would "never, ever be allowed to stay".

What is the ECHR?

On 4 November 1950, the 12 member states of the newly formed Council of Europe (different to the EU) signed the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms - otherwise known as the ECHR.

It came into force on 3 September 1953 and has since been signed by an additional 34 Council of Europe members who have joined, bringing the total to 46 signatories.

The treaty was drafted in the aftermath of the Second World War and the Holocaust to protect people from the most serious human rights violations. It was also in response to the growth of Stalinism in central and Eastern Europe to protect members from communist subversion.

The treaty was the first time fundamental human rights were guaranteed in law.

Sir Winston Churchill helped establish the Council of Europe and was a driving force behind the ECHR, which came from the Charter of Human Rights that he championed and was drafted by British lawyers.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

A Freeper msged me (I read them all though awful at remembering names) saying the ECHR refuses to recognize the ancestry/heritage of North Americans which I found interesting as I've never heard that complaint before.

Anyone know much about it ?

Well, there is always some socialist in the wood pile who is pursuing a fascist agenda of redefining history. If my black and brown brothers cannot get in, nobody gets in....sort of thing.

Britain is actually on its last legs. the monarchy has been sucking up to Arab wealth for over two generations, and the Arabs own most of the Scottish Highlands. THe illegal immigration is the revenge for the British Empire. Farage is actually dealing with The Revenge of the Empire. Even the fish and chips in Blighty are now curried.

Farage may be successful, but if so, it will be by a hair.

I have a retired Royal Marine veteran fiend who has been in Canada for 15 years and had not been back to Britain and who recently returned to Britain for a visit. A former Londoner, he said the city had become the new Black Hole of Calcutta. He said he would never go back again, it sickened him.

Europe is in deep Muslim doo doo.Its not just Britain.

The culture and institutions of Britain are now a distant memory. They no longer exist. Ta Ta Corporation of India and their cohorts now rule the roost.

ECHR was a convention, passed after WWII horrors, after many Jews, who managed to escape Hitler, were refused asylum and returned back to sure death.
It is also product of Stalin era. Many refuges from Stalin “communist paradise” were also returned back to almost certain death.
Unfortunately, this convention has been very abused lately, and became basis of massive influx of people who are NOT abused by the government.
It is obviously outdated, and need major change, or repeal.
Agree with Farage.

Good knowledge and puts me to shame and yeah it’s become a refugee charter which they use to avoid deportations through clever lawyers.

That’s why Farage wants out

Britain discovers what it takes to have a secure border . . .

Nigel Farage accused Sir Keir Starmer of siding with international courts against the British public as he unveiled his plans for mass deportations of illegal migrants.

Writing for The Telegraph, the Reform UK leader pledged to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), repeal the Human Rights Act and disapply three other international treaties that he said acted as ā€œroadblocksā€ to deporting anyone who entered the UK illegally.

Mr Farage – who will set out detailed plans in a speech on Tuesday – argued that such a move was ā€œjustifiedā€ under the Vienna Convention, the cornerstone of international law, because Britain faced ā€œa national emergency in which uncontrolled illegal migration undermines public orderā€.

Young girl with camp hatchet and kitchen knife?

Israeli's have a better approach.

Israeli woman carries M16 rifle to the shops in Sderot (Oct 12, 2023)

Yes, Israeli's are strict about who can own one, but the civilians can be a force multiplier.

My AR-15 does not look like that one. Much heavier, wooden stock and heavy 18ā€ 8:1 twist barrel. Probably weighs 2X the one over her shoulder.

I hunt, my AR is chambered 5.56x45 NATO and my go-to load is 70 grain semi Spitzer SP bullets. (I have 55 gr and 62 gr bullets for plinking)

I’m partial to the 69 grain Match Burners myself. But for just plinking I use 55 grain soft points.

Both Hitler and Stalin not only terrorized population under their power, they also severely restricted emigration. Anybody, who tried to escape was deemed traitor and was tried like that. People, returned to them, faced almost certain death, or at leas many years in jail.

Right now, that’s not the case in most places.
E.G. There is no a firing squad at the Mexican border executing anybody who is being deported from the US.

Yes, there are still some opposition figures occasionally escaping certain death from several countries (E.G. North Korea, Belarus, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, China, and others), and these people deserve to be given asylum. But 99.999% of “refuges” are not like that, and should be returned.

Most people shoot for speed and and long range. The Speer 70 gr Semi Spitzer is very economical, has more bullet length in contact to the barrel for stability but not as aerodynamic out front. But with the small diameter of the bullet, I don’t think that makes much difference. The farther you put the bullet (past the neck) in the brass I get concerned about pressures, stability and accuracy.

Eliminate the UN and demolish the building. It solely exists to turn the world in to a socialist islamic third world s hole. It does absolutely nothing good and has encouraged wars against Jews and whites while promoting every tyrant since its founding.

Farage is not even a Trump - and a Franco is needed.

ā€œMost people shoot for speed and and long range.ā€

I shoot to learn where my bullets are at a given distance and to learn where that maximum is for a given projectile. I know the drops on the 55 grain pills out to 350 or so. Beyond that I use the heavier bullets.

I tried the 77 grain Match bullets but my rifle doesn’t seem to like them. Maybe I just haven’t found the right load for them.

Farage needs to be more proactive on this. All this means that he will rely on getting treaties changed.

He needs to flat out say “THEY MUST GO” and mean it. He would win overwhelmingly then.

Practical hunting range with an AR is about what you suggested. The barrel length and rifling are key elements in accuracy with distance.

On an AR heavy bullets require fast rifling to stabilize. 8:1 or 7:1 twist

Mine has a 1-9 twist. That’s probably why.

The issue is bullet weight, bullet length, type of powder & whether magnum primers, length of barrel. 5.56x45 NATO are better fit to military use, trying to accommodate multiple countries might introduce some chamber difference from .223. This is written about a lot.

I chose a 5.56x45 NATO barrel, because the day may come when for whatever reason a lot of military ammo would be available cheap. (smile)
