I thought I saw a cougar once on my property in the mountains of Virginia. This cat was nearly the size of a boxer carrying a rabbit in its mouth. As it turned uphill I finally saw the cropped tail and realized it was a massive bobcat. Yeah. Looks can be deceiving.
