If this is so dangerous, why aren’t signs posted warning about this and asking people to take precautions? Where are the local authorities on this?

But yeah, I think these parasites can even be picked up eating shellfish. Heard also about vegetables carrying so ething simi.ar because snails crawl across the leaves of veggies and leave parasites in the slime or something. Was happening in Hawaii, a bit, and also in some US states in north

reliably because the risk is so small- hardly ever hear about anyone getting it
Though didn’t rfk Jr have a brainstorm or parasite?

Before one can put a boat in the water in Colorado, it has to be inspected for Zebra mussels.
But apparently brain eating parasites (sounds like Democrats) are okay.

Kids have gotten it in the kiddie pool at home; last one reported on FR was a woman got it from her RV water storage tank I believe, about a month ago.

This is a (very) rare but well known risk of fresh water swimming in middle and lower latitudes in the US.
Warning signs probably wouldn’t reduce incidence much since it is already so low AND fresh water swimming on a hot summer day is a universally beloved pleasure.

put “amoeba” or “brain eating” in FR search bar, you’ll see it is a freak accident contracted in very unique ways.

This approach puts the burden of protection on individual families rather than government agencies responsible for public safety.

Whenever I swim in fresh water I put alcohol drops in my ears as soon as I get out. I learned to do that from Girl Scout camp MANY years ago.

Rather than taking decisive action to warn citizens or temporarily restrict access during peak danger periods, officials offer generic safety advisories while maintaining full recreational access. Wasn't there a movie that used this same premise for keeping their beaches open despites reports of a predator in the waters just off beach? Hmm, sounds very familiar.

Who writes this crap? Missouri has had four cases in 40 years, so they should shut down all the recreational lakes and swimming holes? wtf.
To: Red Badger
No more swimming in shallow warm waters or at all in July, August and September when deeper water is warm.
No more motor-boating where people may enter the water, as that stirs up the sediment.
That’ll help reduce the risk.
