50 years later, Bruce Springsteen still ‘Born to Run’
San Antonio Express News ^ | 08/24/2025 | Robert Seltzer,

They called him “The Boss,” but he never pushed anyone harder than he did himself. It showed. In his lyrics, in his music, in his performances. Bruce Springsteen never sweat a drop that did not come from honest labor. All that ambition, all that energy and drive, converged in one of the greatest albums in rock ’n’ roll history, “Born to Run.” It was released 50 years ago Monday. ---SNIP--- What makes Springsteen different from other Trump critics is that there is not a hint of partisanship in his criticism; his assaults are based on a humanity that transcends party affiliations, a trait we see in both the man and the artist.

Not sure where he stands politically but Bob Seger was my favorite in that era.

I used to listen and enjoy him music till the Clinton years. Then he opened his mouth. Ever since then I cant find the off switch fast enough.

Never bought any of his music but did go to one concert back in 1992. His show was decent. No political banter that I recall. Since then he’s revealed himself on that front and I won’t be ever seeing him again. I’ve seen a few left wing artists over the years but I’m not going to concerts very much these days so even if I had a desire to see him I most likely wouldn’t.

Sadly some time back I read some interview and Seger is definitely anti Trump.

He is a very small man who, like Bon-Jovi, has received a tremendous amount of publicity based on his messaging.

Never bought or owned or borrowed a Springsteen CD/Album. You have to be pretty bad for me not to buy your music.

No matter how many times I’ve heard it, all I can ever think of is George Harrison was sued - successfully - for doing something similar to “He’s So Fine” when he wrote “My Sweet Lord.”

In 1973 the Chiffons, who originally scored with He's So Fine, recorded and released My Sweet Lord, apparently to bait and taunt George Harrison and invite him to "come and get us." I like their version much better than his. The arrangement and orchestration are better, and their vocals are better than his. I also like th e fact that heir version is a hymn to the God of the Bible and makes no mention of any Hindu deities.

Interestingly, it includes the line "he's so fine."
