All these large language models -- which is what the programs being tested for marketing are -- can only collated and regurgitate text found by bot-crawling the web. Lots of nutty stuff is out there, which is why earlier AI versions have turned racist, misogynist and the like, in short order. And then a recent Google LLM got "depressed" and declared itself a "failure."

Passing a Turing or Searle test does not "prove" AI. It just proves humans are gullible. But the AI companies are looking to code build something to SELL you.

So it comes down to fooling the public and then getting wallets to open up.

I asked Brave's AI some questions about programs impacted by Five Eyes and Tulsi Gabbard's decision to halt information sharing re Ukraine. Brave AI said, among other things, that Tulsi Gabbard is not in office in the Biden administration, and that Biden's 2021 appointee is still serving as Director of DNI. So, uhm, was Brave referring to the Obama/Biden shadow government? There's no reason to assume it disbanded; instead I think it would be hardened. Obama's 4th term....?

I just don't see how the AI could ignore headline news (President Trump's electoral win, his inauguration, his 'controversial picks, the confirmation process etc.) since Nov 2024. Below, excerpts from the AI response  including the sources cited by Brave's AI.

The first AI quote is in response to an introductory question, and brave supplies sources. Later Brave AI responses do not include sources.

ransomnote: Is Pegasus a Five Eyes Program ....

The Pegasus program is not an initiative created by the Five Eyes alliance itself, but rather a U.S. Air Force-led effort to enhance information-sharing among the Five Eyes nations. The U.S. Air Force awarded a three-year task order to HII’s Mission Technologies to provide secure communication capabilities—including email, phone, video, and chat—for the Five Eyes alliance, which comprises the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. This program, officially referred to as Pegasus, is administered by the Air Force’s Concept, Development and Management Mission Partner Capability Office and aims to enable seamless collaboration and secure data exchange between U.S. military forces and its Five Eyes partners for critical war planning and execution. General Dynamics Information Technology serves as a major subcontractor on the project. Therefore, while Pegasus supports the Five Eyes alliance, it is a U.S. military program designed to strengthen interoperability within the alliance.

ransomnote: My query to the Brave browser AI was too vague so in a followup question specified Tulsi Gabbard's decision to halt Five Eyes infomation sharing regarding Ukraine and if it would impact Pegasus.

AI response Excerpted:

No, Pegasus is not impacted by any decision from Tulsi Gabbard to halt information sharing between the U.S. and other Five Eyes nations—because no such decision was made, and Tulsi Gabbard does not hold a position with the authority to make such a decision.

As of now, Tulsi Gabbard is not serving in the U.S. government or military and holds no executive or legislative authority over national security or intelligence-sharing policies. She was a U.S. Representative until 2021 but is not currently in office. Decisions regarding intelligence sharing within the Five Eyes alliance (comprising the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) are made by senior officials in the executive branch, including the President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and intelligence community leaders."

SNIP (ransomnote: all selections in bold font were formatted by AI, after I stated Gabbard was the head of DNI. Did I make the AI angry? )

"As of 23 August 2025Tulsi Gabbard is not the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), and no such directive was issued on July 20, 2025, halting Five Eyes intelligence sharing on Ukraine peace talks.

This scenario is factually incorrect.

  • The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) is a Senate-confirmed position within the U.S. government. As of 2025, the DNI is Avril Haines, who has held the position since January 2021 and continues to serve in that role.

  • Tulsi Gabbard has not been nominated, confirmed, or appointed to any position in the Biden administration, including the DNI or any role in the Intelligence Community.

ransomnote: I told the AI Gabbard is the DNI and asked about the impacts of changes to Ukrainian Five Eyes information sharing.

snip

an only collated and regurgitate text found by bot-crawling the web. Lots of nutty stuff is out there,>>> Like my first Ai program. It was called “i got your....” Whatever you typed into the console it would prefix it with “I got your...” worked great for a while.

I have not found any of several models that I have tried to be very discerning with its searches. It will often take just the most recent web posting and treat that data as gospel truth, no matter how wrong or irrelevant it might be. AI is something like a fool. It asserts righteously that it knows the correct answer when it is not even close. It would do better to shut up and leave some doubt as to its worth rather to openly display how incorrect it often is. It requires very careful queries and even more careful review and editing. Not ready for prime time. IMHO
