Award-winning US filmmaker Woody Allen will take part in Moscow International Film Week, according to the event's website. Kicking off this Saturday, the festival is expected to feature dozens of foreign participants.
The event has attracted a large number of international attendees despite a wave of 'cancel culture' targeting Russian art and Western attempts to isolate the country's creative community.
The director, screenwriter, and four-time Oscar winner will participate in the film week online, hosting a special session titled Legends of World Cinema. The session will be moderated by top Russian director and producer Fyodor Bondarchuk. Joining Allen as participants will be Serbian director Emir Kusturica and American actor Mark Dacascos, according to the organizers.

Woody Allen has always pushed communist ideologies in his work. Hence the reasons he is constantly praised by Hollywood and MSM.
I still like his early movies.

The guy is almost 90 years old, and I’m surprised that he’s up for doing something like this. I have actually seen him and his wife in NYC, he hangs on her arm; maybe it’s a display of real affection, rather than frailty, (or both); regardless, it’s remarkable that they are still together.
He wants a daughter-wife. She wants a husband-father. Each plays the role the other wants. Nothing much remarkable there.
I’m tired of the stuff he’s been doing lately, but that sounds like a tribal response. He’s in one tribe. You’re in another. I don’t agree with him about much, but some of his movies and early comedy routines were quite funny. Plus, aside from “The Front” which was somebody else’s movie, I’m not aware of anything close to actually pro-communist in his work.
Sleeper, Bananas, Take The Money & Run, and Annie Hall come to mind.
