THE COLONY, Texas — Midwest-based White Castle is opening its first Texas location in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the company announced

In a press conference Thursday, White Castle executives announced it will open up a new location in Grandscape at The Colony. The chain is known for its square sliders and steamed onions. The restaurant is expected to open in the summer of 2026.

The fast-food restaurant is well-established in the Midwest and has just a few locations in Florida, Arizona. Its Grandscape location will become only its seventh location outside of the Midwest.

I prefer Dairy Queen over Whataburger.

And here in Texas, always packed, always crowded, always a line of Texans who publicly denigrate it but secretly line up.

The one here in Las Colinas is empty all the time. Come by... no waiting- ever.

Whataburger used to be fantastic. But since they sold out to a Chicago hedge fund or something, they have plunged in quality.

In and Out is the best. And their service is fantastic.

I know Krystal copied White Castle back in 1932.

Spent one night at the Motel 6 off the freeway in Bowling Green, KY. White Castle was right next door, and a Krystal was just down the street. Got my WC fix and got to try Krystal. Seemed to be a coin toss between the two.

In-and-Out burgers are very high quality meat and ingredients. They also never freeze the meat, have zero additives, and deliver it daily. They use only in-house butchers, as well.

I don't understand how you can't taste the quality, as everyone else does.

If you haven’t already, might want to try Rodeo Goat (Denton and others around DFW), or Burgers & Brats (low key, no beer, in FloMo), or Mooyah (FloMo, Denton, Frisco, Southlake).

Mooyah is terrible... the one in Coppell went out of business. Rodeo Goat in Cypress Waters is good. Hudson House has about the best burger in DFW.

Very few people eat them that like them that have been raised on Texas beef. They're way overcooked to the point that they have no juice or flavor what so ever.

They're not popular here in Texas because they're not good burgers. I like the family that owns them, but that doesn't make them a good burger.

If it tastes anything like their frozen ones at the grocery store, no thank you.

Movie?

What about this classic. And the two great sequels.

That part of the metroplex is full of recent transplants to the area, not people who have roots in Texas. Like In-n-Out, White Castle will probably do fine on the 121 corridor.

____The one here in Las Colinas is empty all the time. Come by... no waiting- ever.___

I have never heard of an IN N OUT Burger not being busy, especially at peak hours. They have NEVER closed a location and I believe they have several hundred locations now.

The ONLY exception was when they closed a location in Oakland California and that was due to crime. Here in The Colony, the line at IN N OUT is perpetual. It’s just always there and you cannot get a seat during lunch or dinner hours.

This was the opening of IN N OUT in Texas. McKinney. The line of cars.....is about half a mile long. And everytime we drive by IN N OUTs in Frisco, McKinney, and The Colony...a line. Always a line.

That was 14 years ago on opening day when all the California transplants flocked to it.

I work overlooking the one in the Colony and it's never busy and neither is in the one in Las Colinas. If you check Google, you'll find Friday's are their busiest day and it's only marked "A little busy" right now.

Good locations will ensure a business never has to close a location. I&O has 418 while something like What-A-Burger has more than twice as many at 1,138.

First hand observation of the Colony and Las Colinas I&O's prove they're not very busy given how few locations they have.

Krystal came into the market about 20 years ago and got off to a great start. Then they slowly closed down, one at a time.

Of course, now that whole chain is in full collapse.
