We would occasionally have a “party fee” of $10 if we were having a particularly extravagant soiree.

I was also able to rent my room for $75 a month or $300 a month in today’s dollars. I was supposed to share it for that amount, but I snored...badly...and no one could stand it. There was a bit of a disagreement because I had an oversized room and they insisted I share or move to another room. The only brothers willing to move into the house and take my room had a higher roll number than I did, so I pulled rank.
