Do you rinse them prior to frying?
Baking Soda can impart a “fishy” taste to dishes when used ‘copiously’.

It’s in a 4.5 Qt enamal cast iron dutch oven I par-boil in. I don’t taste any off flavor, so I think it’s fine.
