CRUNCH TIME in Alaska: Trump set to meet Putin in push for Ukraine Peace
BBC ^ | Aug 14 | BBC

Posted on 08/14/2025 6:35:37 PM PDT by RandFan

US and Russian officials will converge on the state of Alaska ahead of a highly anticipated Friday meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

The pair will meet for the first time in six years, as Trump tries to enact a key campaign pledge to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

The US president, who has portrayed himself as a global peacemaker, hopes to leverage his personal relationship with Putin to achieve a ceasefire breakthrough where others have failed.

On Thursday he assessed there was a "25% chance" the meeting would not be successful.

Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky has been excluded from the talks, and warned that any resolutions made in his absence will be meaningless.

In Anchorage there are few signs of the impending high-stakes meeting, except for the international media that have descended on the area.

Journalists are rubbing elbows with holidaymakers from the "lower 48" states on visits to the Alaskan wilderness during the height of the tourist season.

Friday's meeting between the two leaders will take place entirely on a nearby US military base – a reflection of security concerns and the relative brevity of the planned sit-down, currently scheduled to last just a few hours.

And I’ve heard (on Newsmax or Fox) that Russia is kidnapping small Ukrainian children and selling them either for sex trafficking or adoption.

Putin and Zyy are TERRIBLE HORRID people.

Keep in mind that TWO can play that game and there are MILLIONS of potential (and actual) insurgents now in, literally, EVERY country in Western Europe.

So the Neocons might find that their continued harassment of Russia (for not capitulating to their demands) could easily BACKFIRE.

You have to get it out of your head that the Ukrainians are nothing but braindead puppets acting on the behest of Neocon/Globalist masters. The recent protests against changes in the anti-corruption laws clearly show that the Ukrainian public is quite capable of acting on its own. Any insurrection against the Russians would be indigenous and not directed by foreigners. Do you really doubt that the Ukrainians would continue to fight for their freedom?

“Do you really doubt that the Ukrainians would continue to fight for their freedom?”

Being ruled over by BRUSSELS is far from Freedom, ask Hungary about it. Ukraine will have much greater freedom under Russia as Russia will not force them to DESTROY their power grid while outlawing gasoline/diesel cars at the same time...for starters.

So the alternative is to accept the slave masters in Moscow?

“So the alternative is to accept the slave masters in Moscow?”

For the MILLIONS of Russians living in Ukraine, that is their desire. For the radicals in Western Ukraine, they chose to be lapdogs to the Neocons, so they paid the price. My thought is that they’ll simply emigrate to Europe.

The ethnic Ukrainians, who are 80% of the population, don’t seem to agree to your terms. Ethnic Russians are only 17% of Ukraine’s population.

You are living in a dream world. Whether or not you think rule under Russian domination is better or not, the Ukrainians do not want to be ruled by the Russians. Contrary to what you would want to believe, this is not just Zelensky; it is the Ukrainian people. They know that a Russian victory would lead to the erasure of the Ukrainian national identity, thus they fight for their self-preservation. They are not being led by external Neocon/Globalist masters.

Russians are a minority in Ukraine. They do not get to dictate to the Ukrainians what they should do. Even in Donbas polls have shown that they prefer union with Ukraine over Russia 2:1. You should accept the truth rather than projecting what you think it should be.

Well, if they’re no threat, then they should be treated per UN charter, which means NOT outlawing their language or trying to drive them out, or half a dozen other human-rights abuses.

They didn’t, so now it’s game over for Ukraine.

“Ukrainians do not want to be ruled by the Russians.”

Ukrainians WILL NOT be ruled by Russians, they’ll either have their own country, or they will move/stay in Europe. The Russians there, FOR GOOD REASON, will no longer be ruled by the Ukrainians.

Everyone has their own polling. How about telling us about the referendums in late 2022?

You mean those bogus referenda conducted by the Russians? They are about as honest as a national election conducted by the DNC. And, pray tell, how do can you claim the results for the Zaporizhzia oblast when the City of Zaporizhzhia did not participate? That alone shows how useless those "referenda" are.

You are apparently unfamiliar with the Russian demands. They call for the complete surrender of Ukraine and its reduction to a puppet state ruled over by Russia, not an independent rump Ukraine.

The Russians there, FOR GOOD REASON, will no longer be ruled by the Ukrainians.

Russians are a minority in Ukraine. They do not get to dictate to the majority.

“You mean those bogus referenda conducted by the Russians?”

So we’re to believe that your Neocon-sponsored poll is good but anything the Russians do, including having an election with INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS invited (and some attending) is is bogus.

Must be tough to sleep at night.

Which demand - the one that says they can no longer be a threat to Russia? How does that demand amount to being “ruled over by Russia”?

But Ukraine may just get that outcome, if the Neocons are successful in getting the country COMPLETELY overrun by the Russians.

So you are advocating for the ethnic cleansing of the 80% of Ukraine’s population who are ethnic Ukrainians? You are not even attempting to hide your support of Russian imperialism.

They were never a threat to Russia. But as to which demand:

  1. Reduction of the military to a token force unable to defend the country.
  2. Banning of any foreign support to aid Ukraine in its self-defense.
  3. Replacement of the elected government with one acceptable to Russia, i.e., "de-Nazification."
  4. Suppression of efforts to promote the Ukrainian language, culture, and identity as distinct from Russian (again "de-Nazification").
  5. Promotion of the Russian language and culture as equal status as an integral part of the Ukrainian identity.
The result would be a puppet state ruled by Russian and gradually Russified, continuing the policies of the Tsars and the Soviet Union. The Ukrainians know this and this is why they are fighting.

Right, anything that does not support the Russian narrative must be "Neocon" propaganda.

“Right, anything that does not support the Russian narrative must be “Neocon” propaganda.”

Not necessarily, but certainly no more credibility than anything done under the Russians.

“The result would be a puppet state ruled by Russian and gradually Russified”

Last time I looked, Finland is STILL not Russified yet they had the same rules for 70 years, so your paranoia on Russia’s demands are a bit ‘misplaced’.
