A London restaurant has been shut down after dog meat was allegedly found in the freezer.

Pho Na, a Vietnamese restaurant on Old Kent Road, Southwark, closed after inspectors found the suspicious looking meat labelled as ‘goat wrapped in leaves’.

But when it was sent for analysis it was confirmed it was dog meat.

Inspectors also discovered mice droppings and cockroaches inside the establishment.

“Inspectors also discovered mice droppings and cockroaches inside the establishment.”

It’s been my studied observation that asian restaurants aren’t usually the most hygienic.

How the restrooms are maintained can be very telling.....if the establishment doesn’t care about what the customer sees there, who knows what’s going on in the kitchen......that goes for any other restaurants BTW.

My parents spent 5 years in Japan in the 50s.....then my dad did 2 tours of Vietnam with most of his R&R being spent in Thailand.

I never could get him to even consider eating in any type of asian restaurant.....he refused to even discuss it.....this is more than likely why.

I did grades 7-8 and 10-11 in Bangkok.
It was a great place to be a teenager.
My father was in the Foreign Service and worked at the US Embassy.

“So it was a traditional Vietnamese restaurant?”
-

Yep.
The Vietnamese customers more than likely knew exactly what it was all along and were probably the primary consumers.

“”””It’s been my studied observation that asian restaurants aren’t usually the most hygienic.””””

I spent years in restaurants before immigration kicked in, from dishwasher to mgmt., and I thought I knew inspectors, but in later years as a service plumber seeing the kitchen areas of post immigration restaurants, I think food inspectors use a different standard, if any standard at all, with immigrant owned eateries, also fair hiring practices don’t seem to apply to them.

In certain cultures, if one is hungry, one eats whatever moves on its own.....the owner might have kept the dog meat in there for his own consumption.
On the other hand, when in Wome, do what the Woemans do.

Leonard: Why are you learning Chinese?

Sheldon: I believe the Szechuan Palace has been passing off orange chicken as tangerine chicken, and I intend to confront them.

Leonard: If I were you, I’d be more concerned about what they’re passing off as chicken.
