or vape it, or consume it with "edibles", etc. Psychedelics are legal in many places as well. In addition, with the increase of illicit drugs such as methamphetamine, why bother with alcohol? The wino of the past is the meth-head of today.

So much for "'Americans' drinking habits are shifting amid the medical world's reappraisal of alcohol's health effects, Gallup said of the findings."

So, me:

I used to drink alcohol daily. Anywhere from 4-12 drinks a day depending on what kind of day it was and how much disposable income I had.

About ten years ago my grandmother started to ail due to advanced age, and the notion that I would be needed at her side at any random time was enough to get me to mostly walk away from alcohol so that I wouldn’t be lit if my family needed me to be strong.

Sadly Gram passed a few years back, but I haven’t picked back up the booze. I still drink occassionally - I think I have had about ten beers so far this year - but now when I have a beer it’s actually *a* beer instead of trying to turn it into an Olympic event.

Marijuana legalization is hurting alcohol sales. You don’t need to drink as much alcohol when you are vaping THC or smoking marijuana. Some will turn to drugs and rarely drink, to get as high as they need to.
