The issue is that the International Criminal Court has a warrant out for Putin’s arrest, so there’s no ability to hold diplomatic meetings in Europe.
Most European countries were perfectly OK buying Russian gas over the years. The U.S. destroyed the Nordstream pipeline to put an end to that.
This has been all about the U.S. and UK asserting their dominance over the rest of Europe -- even to the point of pushing them into a conflict with Russia that none of them ever wanted.
Europeans can’t do it, they don’t have the juice Trump has. But when it comes to imposition of severe sanctions after Putin says “no sale”, they will be useful collaborators.
Agree completely. Let them spend their blood and treasure, and not ours, on this convoluted mess.
