Friedrich Merz knows how important uncontrolled mass migration was at the last election, so has promised to crackdown on the vast pull factors encouraging people to move to Germany.
Yet much like his pledge to get a grip of illegal migration, this alleged crackdown appears to consist far more of rhetoric than of action.
As such, Germany’s Federal Employment Agency is actively promoting Bürgergeld—the citizens’ benefit paid to those with no income or who do not earn enough money to support themselves—to young migrants.
A page on its website is written in English “for people from abroad,” and leads with an image of a happy young couple. Those with “little or no knowledge of German” are also encouraged to make an appointment for taxpayer funding.
A fairly basic criteria has been established for the payments, namely:
- You or members of your community are in need of assistance.
- You are capable of working at least three hours a day.
- You are at least 15 years old and have not yet reached the age limit for your pension.
- You live in Germany and have the centre of life here.
Mocking the scheme in Focus, journalist Jan Fleischhauer described Germany as “so generous that it not only explains to immigrants from abroad how to get a job, but also how to make ends meet in Germany without one.”
To prevent anyone from getting the false idea that citizens’ income is only for people too old or too sick to work, a young couple beams at you from the side, looking as if they’d easily find employment. On the left, a young man in his early thirties holds a green-bound book; next to him, a young woman in a hijab who also doesn’t look stupid.

Mixed-bag.
Coalition now is talking of cutting drastically into Burger-geld (welfare)....particularly aiming at Ukrainians...get a job, or go home. Limited placement time coming for them, with language classes to get them set for work.
I noticed today...the basic info package for welfare will now only come in German (not the nine languages as before).
Added this AM...new poll says AfD 2 points above CDU-CSU (leading nationally now). National election is 3.5 years away, but they are aiming at state of B-W for March 2026 state election...might be very close between CDU and AfD.
Key factor is that birth rates are down....commerce now worried about not enough workers to fill requirements.
A small, personal eyewitness account:
More than fifteen years ago when my bride and I were legal residents of Germany, I saw an ad campaign run in two meter high posters of "Mohammad is a German name" and "Abdul is a German name," at bus and train stops, as elsewhere. It was absurd. As absurd as running an ad campaign in Saudi Arabia or Iran with "Hans is an Arabic name" or "Hildegaard is an Arabic name." The latter would never be allowed by Islamic governments, but the former was encouraged by the European progressives. Similar campaigns were seen by me in Belgium and the UK. It is a mass insanity of the European political elite. Not the first, as history tells. As with past insanities in Europe, this too will end in violence and destruction. And "green" -- which one observes is also a favored color in Islamic tradition and on the Saudi flag.
We are happy to be home in these United States, for so many reasons. And eschew the company of Democrats for like reasons.
The euros, France, England, Germany, flooding themselves with 3rd worlders.
Like Obama & Biden flooded us with aliens, using all these subterfuges, “delayed action” “temporary” “asylum”.
Their own people, the euros, and we Americans object—no one seems to want ... let’s call it what it is: replacement of ourselves by aliens—no one wants it but the ones calling the shots.

You see, both they and I had opined that the days of kindred revenge were a thing of the past. But the Mighty Ones, that is, the neo-communist power elite, sadly don’t think that way.
