MI5 suspected that the German founder of Rolex was a Nazi spy, the Telegraph can reveal.
Formerly classified documents at the National Archives show how secret service agents feared Hans Wilsdorf should be blacklisted due to his “strong” sympathies for Adolf Hitler’s regime. The Second World War papers, dated between 1941 and 1943, state that Wilsdorf was “most objectionable” and “suspected of espionage”.
The file also suggested the businessman may have made much of his decision to offer British prisoners of war (POWs) free Rolex watches despite his real intentions being anything but patriotic. The papers – many stamped from “Box 500”, the colloquial civil service nickname for MI5 due to its wartime address – show the increasing concern that Wilsdorf, a naturalised British citizen, posed a threat to the Allies. Wilsdorf was born in Bavaria in 1881 and moved to London in 1903, where he made watches in Hatton Garden before registering the name Rolex and marrying British-born Florence Crotty. In 1919, he based the company headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

I never said that. However, that doesnt mean they didnt influence in American politics, when there were documented nazi sympathizer in the country.
They were everywhere in Europe and they obtained seats of influence after the war, so why wouldnt they be trying to influence things in America?
Read up on Operation Paperclip.
Oh hell, I own two Rolex watches so does that make me a double Nazi? I am white and have blue eyes and have German ancestors. I like to eat black bread and bratwurst. My mother’s family came from Bavaria. I know a few German phrases. I own 2 Volkswagens. One is named Hansel and the other is Gretel.
Oh, the huge manatee!!!
Most of the Nazi leaders, the real ones, got away. The ones we sent to Nuremberg and hanged were mostly the public faces of the party.
Hotsy totsy if memory serves me correctly.
I love your post! I have Rolex watches, too. I usually wear them alternately when I brush my teeth to wind them! My Seiko is perfect for everyday use. The older German cars I had were reliable, and lasted me for well over 200K miles each. The newer ones are babied along at 5K miles per year! My 20 year old Acura is my daily car and has 210K miles on her.
Prost, mein Freund!
They certainly hold their value but there are better watches in that $$ range

I traded a project that a jerk refused to pay for a watch or some broken knee caps. I got the watch.
I found a Tag Hauer at a thrift store in Tahoe. Imagine that. A 6k watch for a couple bucks. I gave it to my Polish girlfriend at the time. I still love her.
I got a Rolex Millgaus with a blue face. A unusual combo.
Joe Kennedy had great wealth when Hitler was still a private in the German army. He didn’t get his money from anything to do with the Nazis. He stole it all legitimately on Wall Street. He was a real SOB, but he was not a Nazi.
Fascism was not a political belief system of cranks. It was the party of the elites. MOST elite personS, during this period was a fascist. The royal family, Henry Ford. All the corporates.
It wasn’t some sort of party that represented a bad time in human history.
For those with an interest in controlling the human race under the power of government either went with fascism or communism. Joseph Kennedy simply found the good fortune to be able to plug into this globally-intended structure.
It morphed into the Democratic party, RINOs, the WEF, etc. But it never went away discredited.
I think you are thinking of the Three Stooges with Hotsy Totsy. Schultz’s toy company was the Schatze Toy Company
What did just occur to me is whether the fascists in Europe were just the elites trying preserve their power, because the communists wanted to replace them with themselves.
Rolex is a Swiss and British company and quite safe from German pressure.
🎶It is a difficult responsibility…
…When you’re the first toy-maker to His Majesty!🎶
So was Henry Ford, but that didnt stop him from supporting them.
Not really.
Automatic watches suck for precision timekeeping.
The best, most solid Submariner-styled watch you can buy for less than a grand costs about $60.
The Casio Duro.
I've got about eight of these! I'll hack them to my iPhone and 3 months later, they're about a second or two off.
I have a Seiko Jap-made SKX-007. I really wanted to love it but it did the worst thing a watch can possibly do.
It would stop for like 15 minutes and then start back up again.
Screwed me up every time.
Is there an FR watch fan page?
They were National Socialists. Get that now… socialists. They and the Soviets were pretty much the same thing. They were both ready to kill people for little or no reason at all. We have morons is this country calling themselves socialist now, and trust me… give them power and they too will be killing people for little or no reason.
JFK dated a Nazi.
Inga Marie Arvad Petersen (6 October 1913 – 12 December 1973) was a Danish-American journalist who was a guest of Adolf Hitler at the 1936 Summer Olympics and also had a romantic relationship with John F. Kennedy in 1941 and 1942.
His Dad had political ambitions for him, after Joe Jr. blowed up, knew this was a bad match, broke them up, and also broke Jack’s heart.
