“Whether you pronounce the delectable fruit (yes, it’s a fruit) as tomato or tomatto, “
What about usn’s what likes a ‘mater samitch.
I do not give a rat’s ass.
Make your own damn food.

All of them use Roma tomatoes - there are no other kind to substitute?
They can be water, fertilizer, and season-intensive. US tomato consumption cannot be met with domestic production. This is especially true outside of the growing season, when the ONLY tomatoes grown domestically are in hothouses. This is what necessitates importing them, mostly from Mexico.
no mention of the impact of insane minimum wage levels on the cost of eating out, though ...
grok sez:
The number one operational cost for most restaurants is labor costs. This includes wages, benefits, and payroll taxes for staff such as cooks, servers, and managers. Labor typically accounts for 25-35% of a restaurant’s total operating costs, driven by the need for skilled workers and high staff turnover rates.
Sure thing. The reporter: “Hey, look, Boss! I’ve found something we can hang on Trump!” “What is it, steel production? Auto imports? Materials cost for building projects?” “No. Better than that. It’s tomatoes! We could call it the tomato crisis! Higher costs for ketchup! Urban tomato deserts!!” “Right! Get right on it!”
In other words, it’s mostly affecting liberals.
So long as the fat asses eating at Mac Donald’s aren’t harmed!!!
Iceland of all places has year-round tomatoes and vegetables thanks to greenhouses, hydrothermal heating, and UV lighting.
That’s too danged bad. Suck it up.
You have the choice to not buy any of it.
Geez..gtfu.
U.S.-grown tomatoes taste great. Mexican tomatoes are pretty to the eye but taste like cardboard.
I’m fine paying a bit more for tomatoes seeing as my hard earned tax payments no longer go to supporting illegals and their families.
Definitely in Florida they are. They are completely tasteless.
My wife is allergic to tomatoes, so we could not care less about them...
More exaggeration from the liberal press. We don’t know how much the cost of tomatoes will rise or how much of the tariff will be accepted by Mexican growers as a cost of doing business. Also, the cost of the ingredients is only a part of the cost of the meal. The labor costs of preparing the food, bringing it to the table, cleaning up the restaurant, etc, also are part of the cost of the meal. It is hard to specify how much the cost of one ingredient will affect the price that diners pay.
I rarely eat tomatoes and only when I want to make myself a sandwich or burger with a tomato slice and lettuce, which isn’t very often. Half the time I end up throwing out part of a tomato that has gone moldy before I’ve eaten it all. I’ve never eaten at any of the other three venues they mentioned, and never would. I do all my cooking at home, and eat out once a month or less when I meet friends at the Indian casino near me...and I always order breakfast there.
Dear President Trump,
You know that Japanese fish that could kill you if you eat it?
Can you please put a tariff on that?
Thank you,
