Israel was attacked. They’re the innocent party.
But let’s not by coy. “Investment” is a political redirection, about what is really foreign welfare. The same basic mental gymnastics conducted in this article about “investment” holds for the billions sent Ukraine. Or Iran.
If Israel or whoever wants to buy weapons systems, they can call a sales rep at Northrop Grumman. Or Raytheon. Etc. Then, Israel or whoever can pay for it without using their US Treasury debit card.
If American citizens feel strongly about Israel or Ukrain or whoever, they can send money from their checking account to their country of choice via Venmo.
Another POView is that $$ to Uk or Israel is to test bed weapons systems in real combat. We give taxpayer $$, which is returned as buys to US MIComplex. Then, the weapons are tested.
Sorta perverse, but seems to work.
Not in the real world when dealing with enemies and allies. Continually giving money to class of nations that squander it and serve no strategic purpose is not the same as providing aid to countries that are very effectively deterring a common enemy.
But perhaps you think the US should have been strictly neutral in 1939 onward. Or that helping Israel is like do so to a corrupt S. Vietnam government.
