A transgender bus driver took her own life by jumping in front of a train after colleagues kept referring to her as male.
Ava Michal Hudson, 27, died on August 7 last year on her way to work at the Chicago Transit Authority, while in her uniform.
She didn't leave a note and gave no indication she was suicidal before suddenly leaping to her death, just four days after attending her brother's wedding.
'Sadly, we’ll never fully know the reason for her death, but the pain left behind after her sudden departure has been acute,' her family wrote in her obituary.
'She has already been mourned by many, many friends and relatives across the globe. She will be very much missed and never forgotten.'
Hudson got her bus license just seven months earlier, last January, and passed probation weeks before her death, proudly announcing it in her final Facebook post.
The new job was a turning point for Hudson after several years of struggling with her gender and unemployment after graduating from Wheaton College in 2020.
Transition costs were expensive, running to $875 a month according to a 2022 court petition to legally change her name, plus more for counseling.
Her $61,000 bus driver salary finally allowed for expensive procedures and gave her financial independence for the first time.
'The day she got her CDL driver’s permit in November 2023 was one of the happiest days of her later life and things finally started to take a turn for the better,' her obituary read.
'She often called or texted photos to her family during breaks on her bus routes.'
But the job never quite fit - both literally, with a boxy uniform that led to passengers innocently calling her 'sir', and her isolation in the role.

I have heard there are suicides among trans people, when they realize, their new life is not what it’s supposed to be like, in their own minds.
The first thing liberals want to do is blame the people who refused to call him “ma’am”. But no one is responsible for a mentally ill person’s suicide. I could just as easily argue that the fault belongs to the people who insisted on calling him a ‘her’ when that is just not true. Helping to reinforce a person’s mental illness is not treating it.

The transgender think “if only I could be this other gender, everything will be fine.” Then they make the transition and they’re just as unhappy and poorly adjusted as they were before, if not more so. They try to blame it on anything but themselves, like the nebulous “transphobia”. But at the end of the day they’re still unhappy and even further away from mental health. Think about it, they’re trying to be something- some ONE else. But no matter where you go, there you are. You can’t run away from yourself.

Leftists/MSM will have you believe that transitioning is a cure for mental illness and its resultant suicidality. All it really does is lock the victim into having their disorder for the rest of their lives.
The gender stuff may be a sideshow. The main issue is likely a Wheaton grad working a bus route. It’s the social demotion, not the pay. Of course, the trans stuff was likely an issue when he interviewed for jobs, especially if he led with questions about insurance coverage for expensive procedures.
Now, imagine if you settled for a low prestige job to get coverage, then discover after being sliced and diced that the state of the art in sex changes is merely cosmetic surgery, that incontinence and an inability to have normal sexual relations are a side effect of the treatment. It’s one thing to live a lie, and quite another to push towards a horrible, irreversible outcome based on someone else’s lie.
Many trannies progress to suicide. This is because these cases of gender dysphoria are connected to deeply-rooted unhappiness combined with realizing that transitioning to the other gender doesn’t solve their unhappiness problem.
Just stop it already with pushing trans onto children. Most children who go through a period of questioning will figure things out. Those who don’t, when they reach adulthood, and bear the cost themselves of any procedures they elect, good luck.
We have always had some number of people who either privately cross-dress (e.g., wear women’s underwear under their gender-conforming clothes) or pass as the other gender through clothing and make-up, without surgeries or hormones. The pushing of trans as something real takes away the relatively-innocuous cross-dressing option.
