The nearest black hole is 1,560 light-years away. Assuming a probe can travel at 0.01 c, it would only take 156,000 + 1,560 years to get a signal back from the probe just as it heads into the black hole.

So, how many monthly project reports will that include?

Yup—that is 1,560 years to figure out some way to beat the speed of light and go zipping past the very antique probe.
