At today’s probe travel speeds it will take so many generations to reach the nearest black hole and for the telemetry to return that the launch will be long forgotten. That’s if civilized humanity is still in existence.

That’s only for an outside observer. To the thing being observed it’s time as ‘normal’.
To an outside observer, they would see you getting slower and slower, until you appeared to standstill, frozen in time. Though in reality, time would be stretched so far that microseconds would be seen as decades.............
