"League wants to keep the media and the fans in the dark" - Skip Bayless conjectures on WNBA hiding Caitlin Clark suffering season-ending injury

The Indiana Fever continue to sideline Caitlin Clark until she recovers from a groin injury she suffered on July 15 against the Connecticut Sun. Clark’s third muscle injury this season has forced the Fever to be extra cautious with her. Fever coach Stephanie White has said on a few occasions that the team will not rush a return for the All-Star guard.

Talk show host Skip Bayless had this to say on Thursday after Clark sat out against the LA Sparks Tuesday, her eighth straight missed game:

“Is it possible that this time, she tore her groin so badly that she’s already been privately ruled out for the rest of the season, yet the league wants to keep the media and the fans in the dark about this so that people keep tuning in, figuring, ‘Oh, she'll be back soon.’ Is that what’s going on?”

If Caitlyn Clark can’t cut it in the WNBA maybe she should seek inferior competition.

She can play. But due to their "brutal" tactics, she's constantly injured.

They used to allow this in the NBA but they've cleaned it up ever since then.

Mostly due to "Jordan rules", the NBA decided it was far better to have a clean game.

The difference between playing in college and playing in professionally is huge. That’s why so few make it to the next level. Athletes are stronger, faster and more more physical. CC is going to be fine.

I’m waiting for Freepers to suggest that Cooper Flagg would be better off playing in Europe because of, you know, black NBA players with a vendetta.

The talent is not the issue. But she is being "targeted".

But in Europe, Women’s basketball is more popular there than it is here in the US. That’s why Britney Griner went to play in Russia, she actually made decent money over there.

The likelihood of being injured increases in a 3-on-3 environment. Based on my own personal experience.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this.

Griner has a long list of achievements that were all a result of her WNBA career. She will not be remembered for playing in Russia (except for that vaping thingie).

We’ll agree to disagree but the data is there. 17% of total flagrant fouls were committed against CC in 2024.

The WNBA has a shorter season than international leagues. It’s common for women pro ballers to play in both leagues.

That’s more of a testament to her talent, not her skin color.

Women sided with minorities to increase their political power. WNBA shows one how misguided that is

It was her dream since a kid to play in the WNBA. She isn’t going to just quit.

Michael Jordan missed most of the second season also. He didn’t quit, or so I heard.

The difference was that they respected Michael Jordan but he had to "grind" his way to the top to prove that he was for real.

They know she is good also or they wouldn’t be attacking her so much. Anyway, it’s her dream and her call.
