We had a local Earhart fan boy here that financed a couple of search expeditions and never found anything of substance.

I believe that her aircraft will be found eventually, or what’s left of it, deep in the South Pacific, but not necessarily where they have searched................

"...not necessarily where they have searched..."

You can't fight that logic!

I agree. Depending on how many miles wide her visual range was at that altitude, she may have been just out of sight of her intended landing spot.

However, it seems likely that they were many miles short of the island, well out of visual range, and with insufficient fuel to reach it even if they'd been able to see it.

Eventually there will be technology capable of finding the metal signature in very deep water from drones or other aircraft, or maybe even satellites. It seems likely that posterity will have to wait a while.

Getting lost, running out of fuel, and disappearing into the wide expanse of the Pacific Ocean is not at all unique to a woman named Amelia Earhart.

In her case, it is famous because she was a woman.
