Wow. I was born in ‘59, by five we were kept busy with books to read and coloring books, lots of age appropriate chores too, don’t tell the parents you’re bored, lol.

The fire chief is dealing with a lot of stress in dealing with his job in NY. Swearing is one way people deal with stress. I suspect the child is autistic and the parents have called multiple time before. Not really the fire departments job. Sounds like the kid needs to be in an institution but we don’t do that anymore.

Sounds like the parents can't discipline the child, so they call 911 and Big Brother does it for them. Bad behavior has negative consequences. When the kid gets older, the cops will be far more abusive. I'd leave the chief alone personally. At some point, the kid needs to do what she's told to do, and shut up without all of the drama. We don't need to make any more drama queens for the nanny state.

My two young nieces — about 7 and 10 — have pared-down versions. I think it’s called something like Gab. Texts and calls only to those approved by parents, and 911. Definitely no internet.

Their older sister has a regular cell, and now she’s all climate change, whites are responsible for the bad in the world, has the Gen Z Gaze...

The girl allegedly became emotionally overwhelmed after her phone was taken away.

I believe the parents created their own problem no telling how many other things she was spoiled by.

I think that’s exactly why the Chief showed up. He knew it was a crap call, and left his crew where they’d be able to respond in case of an ACTUAL emergency — a three-alarm fire.

They took her phone away...and had to call the cops...and apparently she pulls this stunt over and over.

I'm with the cop on the one. Wonder how many times this "little princess" said the "F" word...or other not so nice language.

More to the story, the kid is no angel, and the bet here is she’s heard worse language in her home. So many use the community ambulance for their private chauffeur service.

YEP. Where I lived in Texas the fat, homeless, or poor would call 911 to get a free ride downtown to the hospital. As soon as they got to the emergency room they walked right back out. I hated that city more than any place I’ve ever lived.

The fire department should not have been called. Clearly this had happened many times before. They should have refused the call and directed the call elsewhere.

Fire Chief is a public servant. If he can’t stay calm because a kid is yelling, he doesn’t need to be there. The girl has emotional problems and where is his concern for her? Why would a grown man think a 10 year old would be as rational as him? A cop, fireman, teacher, principal should not be talking to a 10 year old like that.
