I read India is the very worst.
For putting Tarriffs on US goods.
imho....this violates Trump’s purpose for tariffs...to level the playing field...i.e., fair trade....
Run their guest workers out on a chutney-greased rail. Then, I’ll know Trump is serious wrt India.
Good if that’s how Trump wants to play it.
And for the Russia kissers who go on about interfering in “sovereign nations” - The United States is a sovereign nation and can do what it wants with tariffs.
Russia thinks it can kill and destroy in other countries. The United States can damn well slap some tariffs on India.
In mid-July, while seated next to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump promised to enforce “very severe” tariffs on Russia if Putin does not enter into a deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy within 50 days.
“Tariffs at about 100%, you’d call them secondary tariffs,” he had said, implying that nations who trade with Russia will see 100% tariffs slapped on them when trading with the U.S.
He then pushed the date up to within 10 days of July 29, forcing the new deadline for Friday.
But on Tuesday Trump walked back his 100% tariff threat amid tough trade talks with India and China, and said, “I never said a percentage.”
India is a major supplier of pharmaceuticals, particularly generic drugs, to the United States. Approximately 47% of all generic prescriptions in the US are filled by Indian companies. This significant supply contributes to billions of dollars in savings for the US healthcare system. However, recent discussions about reciprocal tariffs could potentially impact this trade relationship.
The additional tariff is about India buying Russian oil.
China buys over 2 million barrels of oil a day from Russia. Is Trump putting an additional 25% tariff on China? No.
Diplomacy thy name is duplicity.
PUT A SMOKE TARRIFF ON CANADA.
