And yet only the imminent threat of those sanctions is what prompted this supposed considering of an offer from Putin. I admit the situation is complex and no assurances are present yet. Current lines or similar are likely the best the Ukes can hope for.

They aren’t sanctions. They are tariffs and if they remain tariffs it’s great. Let India choose cheap Russian oil over trading with the US or better yet let them pay the US to buy Russian oil. Either way. 25% is their baseline. 10% for BRICS and an extra 20% Russian oil tax and their tariff rate is quite substantial. They trade 132 billion…A nice chuck of change for the U.S. Pay down some debt, maybe a dividend. They can do what’s in their best interest but the the Treasury will get its pound if you choose to continue trading.
