Amazon MGM Studios is building on its partnership with “The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins with a series centered on the Biblical figure Joseph and his time in Egypt.
Jenkins is attached to executive produce the series, titled “Joseph of Egypt,” under his 5&2 Studios banner. Craig Wright will serve as writer and executive producer on the project, which is currently in development.
The official logline for the show states, “Betrayed by jealous brothers, Joseph defies all expectations and rises to incredible power in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. But when his past catches up with him, he is confronted with the ultimate test.”
The show falls under Jenkins’ and 5&2’s multi-faceted deal with Amazon MGM Studios, which was announced in February along with Amazon’s acquisition of exclusive U.S. streaming rights to and a theatrical release of new installments of “The Chosen.” In an interview with Variety in September 2024, Jenkins first revealed plans for a Joseph series as well as a multi-season series on the story of Moses.
In the Book of Genesis, Joseph is the son of Jacob and Rachel who is sold into slavery in Egypt by his brothers. But his ability to successfully interpret the Pharaoh’s dreams, which saves Egypt from a terrible famine, earns him favor and position. His story has been told onscreen numerous times, while the story also serves as the basis for the iconic musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
This also marks the latest Biblical series Amazon has been involved with of late.

“Happy Families are all alike. Unhappy families are each unhappy in their own way...”
David's family is a perfect example. Polygamy and adultery don't make for happy families.
Sometimes the repercussions are decades later.
Indeed, Tolstoy encapsulates this side of eternity. David’s road was uniquely bitter though I must say.
Indeed.
This is the video I kind of remember about Joseph. It is from 1974. I checked my DVDs. I have a copy, still in it's wrapper.
thanks for the recommendation. will bookmark for viewing.
No, I did some Homework.
Okay well I have only seen one episode, hopefully their take on Joseph (not Joseph Smith 😐) will have both craft and Scriptural integrity.
