(Doffs hat) - in 1937 you needed a chocolate chip cookie to cope with the way the world was going to hell. Today, however...come to think of it, I think I'll have a cookie.
Today we also honor the birth of an FR luminary, Helen Thomas, the first person to fall out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down. That, FRiends, is truly the gold standard of being uggled.
But we're here today talking serious cookies. The very best store-bought brand I've found is Clover Valley Chunky Chocolate Chip.
Crisp without being too dry, made with high quality flour (this counts) and loaded with large chips...at just over half what you'd pay for lesser quality Chips Ahoy or Keebler's. So good they fly off the shelves quickly at the Dollar Generals that sell them, though WalMart has them in some areas.
Don't take my word for it, ask the expert!
