Imagine if the Harlem Globetrotters were a baseball team.
People on FR love it. I think it’s gay as hell. But, to each his own.
We in Philadelphia sell out CBP twice when they come here. It’s gay but good entertainment to most.
Never heard of it until a couple of months ago. I work at a sports bar in Northern Commiefornia and Bananaball is more popular than the 49ers.
It’s a fun time with VERY loose baseball rules and lots of made up rules! lol My kids just went and saw a game earlier this month in Charlotte, NC and had a great time! Hard to get tickets. I think my daughter was on the wait list for at least 2 years before she got notified? Maybe it was 3 yrs? Their games are always sold out which is why there is such a long wait list. Two teams but I think they are getting another team together to play? Also tickets are pretty cheap compared to MLB tickets. Forget what my daughter paid....but I know it was less than $50 a ticket. I want to say something like $25 or $35 per ticket [and up]? If you watch a game [on line] those guys are really athletic and very good! You should google Savannah Bananas to see how this all started. Interesting history.
This is playing on ESPN HD now (Verizon FiOS Channel 570).
It’s entertainment.
It’s an alternate baseball league which adds a bunch of new rules, including “trick plays”, if a team’s fan catches a foul ball, it’s an out, and a player can steal first base on a wild pitch. Lots of silly and fun additions, dance routines and fan interactions.
The Orioles are having a bad season.
It was on 60 Minutes fairly recently. I watched it but not sure if a rerun or not.

The Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.
The difference between these guys and the Globetrotters is that these games are actual competitions, it’s not predetermined that the Bananas will win over any of the other three teams. They just have a lot of silly rules and flashy plays to make it more fun and entertaining.

On a recent beach week in Hilton Head, we were looking for some evening entertainment.
“Hey, how about the Savannah Bananas?”
“How much are the tickets?”
“$145”
“For all four of us?”
“No, that’s each!”
My Eagles concert tickets weren’t that much.

I think its great. A fun family activity. You’re watching players who are there for the live of the game.
They are at Coors field in Denver 09 Aug and 10 Aug
