“That reminds me, I need a new Dutch Oven.”
I was left UNSUPERVISED at Walmart, yesterday. I walked all the Kitchen Aisles and then did the most damage in the Yarn and Craft aisles. ;)
I saw that they had the nice Lodge-Brand enameled 5.5 quart cast iron Dutch Ovens for under $50.00. ($46.54 free shipping) The BLUE is stunning - I have a red one that I bought from The Food Network at Kohl’s a decade ago. Can’t live without it!

Of course, if you can find one at a Thrift Shop or Garage Sale, you’ll get a much better price, but I rarely see them for sale.
About 15 years ago now we went to a department Christmas party for hubbys department. They had a game, can’t remember much about it but everyone got a mystery gift and you opened it. The next person that won could trade for the prior person’s gift. Steal it really. Well the nicest gift there was the red 5.5 quart Lodge dutch oven. I stole it near the end of the game and the wife that had it never let me forget it. She was actually miffed that I would not trade with her. I saw her a few times after that and she would sneeridly say, how are you liking your dutch oven? Well I still love it.
The blue or indigo Lodge is exactly what I was looking at. I have red pots and don’t care for the color like I thought I would. They look cool on the black wood stove but that’s it. Closest WM only has red. All other stores around here have indigo.
The Walmart in the town where the new Tractor Supply is has indigo and TS has cattle panels on sale for $25 and Ball pint wide mouth jars $13/dozen. WM has some Corelle dishware on sale that I need as I swap out misc designs for all one design(Winter Frost aka plain white).
Two grocery stores I need to go to are on the way. Little grocery store up there has 80/20 ground for a $1/lb less than anyone else. The one other time I went, I noticed there’s a discount grocery store in that town so I’m wanting to see what it’s like.
Sounds like a plan for tomorrow.
Yeah there's no arguing with the Boss on such things.
She had her gray tabby JaegerMeister put down last weekend. He was old and had some sort of autoimmune disorder that caused him to itch constantly. Poor guy walked around half bald most of the time. He was a good cat and 100% understood English. She got him when he was very small, and growing up around dogs he learned "come, sit, lay down, stay" and would do any/all of those things when/if he felt like it.
Is there any hope at all of civilizing Howard to the extent that he can spend a little bit of time indoors?
I think I know the answer but it never hurts to ask. lol
In my mind’s eye I’m picturing the scene in A Christmas Story where the turkey gets destroyed.
Sons a bitches!!! Bumpuses!!!
Wow! 5 years ago I bought a 6 quart Lodge Dutch oven from Amazon for $60. I just checked and the EXACT same one is now $100!
I have the red one (red is an accent color in our kitchen) - LOVE it! It’s become my favorite pot .... perfect for soups, stew, chile & anything where you need steeper sides. It’s easy to clean. Good price when I was looking around.

My brother had a Brittany Spaniel. He was terrible about food in the house - my brother called it ‘counter surfing’. He would get on his hind legs, get sort of sideways with his head on the counter and he would go the length of the counter, sweeping up any food he could reach. He got a LOT of food that way.
For example ... my brother came home from work & my SIL had left him dinner on the counter - grilled chicken breast etc. He let the dog in, then realized he’d left his briefcase in the truck & went back to get it. When he came back to the house, the dog met him at the door .... licking his lips. Yup, dinner was gone! Another time, he was getting a package of cold cuts out of the fridge ... large package. Somehow the meat slipped out & hit the floor ... a second later, the dog had it & wolfed it down in one or two gulps. I think he even got a birthday cake that was left on the counter, close enough he could ‘surf’ it.
Otherwise, sweet dog; however, being a hunting breed if he was ‘loose’, he was looking for feathers or fur. He killed a lot of my SIL’s chickens ... feathers were feathers & he didn’t discriminate. He died of old age, sleeping in his kennel. I dogsat him since he was a pup so sad to see him go.
