I’m guessing that it was 64 kmph in a 50 kmph zone, but given the yank readership, they translate.
The penalty is awful. I was nailed for 116 in an 80 a few months back, but went through the system and had it reduced to 95 in an 80-—which is only $50 (Canadian). The penalty for 36 over was a huge amount more, but at least in Ontario it is only at 50 over that you face truly draconian penalties.
I glanced at the article and there didn’t seem to be any particularly exacerbating factors. Moral of the story-—don’t go to the U.K.
I obviously didn’t bother to read the article closely enough, nor any of the decent replies.
While I still hold the penalty is draconian, if you have two or more current offenses on your record, it probably is a good idea to ease off.
Nope. they’ve retained MPH in the UK.
30 km/h over in BC is a draconian fine and a 7 day immediate impound of the vehicle. Even better, only the registered owner can get the car released from the impound after paying the towing and storage bills.
One of my former staff (I’m no longer there) learned this the hard way...
I’ve already decided I’d better not go to the UK. If they looked at my posts at FR and elsewhere, they’d throw me in the Tower for political incorrectness.
