The Kremlin said on Wednesday it continues to monitor statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding sanctions against Moscow, but that Russia had acquired immunity to such measures thanks to long experience.
-snip-
"We have been living under a huge number of sanctions for quite a long time, our economy operates under a huge number of restrictions," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Therefore, of course, we have already developed a certain immunity in this regard, and we continue to note all statements that come from President Trump, from other international representatives on this matter."
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the threat of new sanctions "routine" and said it was odd that the U.S. and the West had not yet understood that imposing such measures did not work and only served to hurt Western economies.
"We see that the West simply cannot let go of the issue of sanctions. It seems as if they are constantly stuck in a rut," Zakharova told a news briefing in Moscow.
"Apparently, there are no other options left - they have been exhausted. We are responding and taking measures to counteract all of this or even turn it to our own advantage."

I’m waiting for the “this will just make Russia stronger” crowd to chime in. Because if it really was true that sanctions just make them stronger, they would already have imposed them on themselves voluntarily a long time ago. Why wouldn’t you, if it just makes you stronger?
And they’ll be real sanctions, not Biden sanctions.
Well, then I guess they won’t mind as we drive down the price of oil and tax the crap out of their “allies.”
China doesn’t have allies. They have customers and suppliers. They don’t care where their oil comes from—they just want it cheap. If they can get it from the Saudis or Americans, they will. Same with India.
I am sure the folks in Moscow will be just fine. Those out in the countryside…I hear they excel when they suffer so it will be good for them too.
Peak a nuclear submarine just outside of Russia just to say hi. Routine drive by. I’ll trust on this issue. He knows the limits of his leverage better than anyone which is why he hasn’t been talking trash like the rest of them.
I agree Russia only understands POWER and force. Maybe another “earthquake” would help things along.

For reasons much why Trump tariffs and US reindustrialization have strong domestic US opposition.
It’s much easier to simply send Chinese made & boxed products to stores than operating factories and dealing with labor unions.
Odd comment above. Why would the sanctions make Russia stronger?
Their warhead total will not be affected. The quantity of oil and gas underground will not be affected. They would therefore not be made stronger.
I don’t see any impact on food supply on the grocery store shelves either. There are many videos of grocery stores with the video title this is what it looks like after X years of sanctions. Those predate 2022 by the way.
There is a tendency that is quite dangerous on the part of the West to amplify in their own minds the significance of money and its totals. Bernanke has taught us that you can create money on whim. It’s not a good measure of power.
“Russia has developed immunity to sanctions, Kremlin says after Trump tightens ceasefire deadline”
well sure, if you feel no need to be able to build new passenger jets or replacement bombers or submarines or aircraft carriers ... after all, who needs those things, anyway ...
What Pokrovsk doink?
We're dealing with Bolton neocons here.
You’ve been trying to take that village for 3 1/2 years! Lol!
What Kursk doink? Is your Zelya finished burying the 6,000 bodies the Ukies wouldn't take?
It’s amazing how much oil the Russians are still exporting:
Take a look at the two graphs about halfway down the page.
Are we going to sanction ourselves for buying uranium from Russia?
Nothing says “I’m gonna end this war in 24 hours” - like attempting to gain leverage over Russia by sanctioning India 8 months later.
Trump has found his tar-baby.
