Farmer Dan rents our crop land for feed for his Heifers, and also pastures them with us for the summer-into-fall. They are the Dairy over the ridge from us. Good people.

Beau won’t let me get a milk cow of my own. He says he’s, ‘saving me from myself’ and he is probably right! He grew up around here, farming. His dad was a cattle/dairy cow breeder of some local fame.

Precisely.

My FIL used to have a hobby farm with about 50 Herefords.

They were good eating!

Besides our armed forces, we were also feeding the Brits and most especially the Soviets.

SPAM was a big improvement for the latter.

I’ve bought plenty of filet mignon at about 8 ounces or so at Costco and none of which are glued. You can watch Costco cut the pieces. You can buy a whole filet a cut them 8 ounces if you wish.

I understand people sometimes end up at restaurants for reasons other than the food (e.g. meet with others, conference, etc) but it did strike me as odd that a cattle rancher would visit a steakhouse.

“but it did strike me as odd that a cattle rancher would visit a steakhouse.”

Why do you find it odd that a cattle rancher likes steaks?

And, as a sophisticate, you must have appreciated the smell of the pretty purple ink used on mimeographed tests our teachers handed out to us back in the day.

“Rockin’ W Ranch Cattle Co.” and

“Rockin’ W Ranch” must be two different ranches.

Like a lot of other things going on these days...seemed like a good way to make a buck. When I worked (retired now) I never had the opportunity to make make any money in such an underhanded way. Of course, I never made much more than a bare living, either.

I am retired on S.S. & try to get by cheaply. I buy a few of those meat pies because they are cheap & enough for one meal. After having eaten them for many years previously, I’ve noticed the ones I get today are hardly fit to eat, whereas they used to taste pretty good. If they have to sell slop like they do, it is best they don’t.

Our Grandmother used to rub the Spam in brown sugar and dribble whiskey over it as she fried it...

We thought it was great...

From the article: "...family-owned Angus beef ranch..."

From the "rockinwranch.com" description: "...Rockin’ W Ranch currently resides on approximately 1300 acres of land in several areas within Fayette County. They have 50 registered Herefords and 150 commercial cows that are utilized for the embryo program..."

Hawaiians love Spam so I bet they would also preferred a glue steak over the real thing.

100 cattle per year is not a cattle rancher

If you process them yourself could make money. That subject came up in the last season of Yellowstone.
