I want to let share the wonderful thing members of the Trail Life Troop NM-1412 in White Rock – Joshua ***, Ryan ***, and James *** – have done to help us.
My husband Dan *** is a disabled Marine; we proudly display an American flag and a Marine Corps flag in our front yard. One day the flagpole broke in the wind, we were unable to install a new one. Our friend Joshua *** saw that, he arranged to bring Ryan *** and son James to our home to help plan for the reinstallation of our flagpole plus a veterans’ memorial. Josh told us that they were in a Trail Life Troop that mentors young boys by providing character development through outdoor adventures, leadership opportunities, and Christian-based teachings.
After we decided on the specifics, Josh, Ryan, James and several of his friends came to our home. Josh and Ryan guided the young men to install a beautiful flagpole with solar lighting, an American flag and a Marine Corps flag, a perfect veterans’ memorial, and a yellow-rose bush behind the flagpole. They did this awesome job as a gift to us!
We have never heard of Trail Life Troops, but now we know the great work they do because Josh, Ryan, and James exemplified it. We made a donation to Trail Life USA in gratitude.

Wonderful letter! Much thanks for posting!
I’ve worked with Trail Life since its founding in 2013. The actions of these young men is the rule rather than the exception. Well done guys.
Yesterday I went for a walk at the nearby state park and saw a couple of dozen boys and a few adult men. At first I thought maybe they were Boy Scouts but then saw that some of the men were wearing Trail Life t-shirts. I didn’t talk to them but it appeared they were there to learn about nature.
My son is a Trail Life leader and my grandson is in Trail Life. Wonderful organization!
Learning about nature and taking care of it are part of the program.
Thanks for the introduction to Trail Life! Did not know about them ‘til now. May GOD bless them and their efforts!
That’s awesome.
My wife and I are both involved with Trail Life. She’s an administrative leader for a troop, I’m a regional volunteer. Our two adult sons are also leaders.
Our mission is to “guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others and experience outdoor adventure.”
Troop NM-1412 epitomized that.
