Ukrainian drones targeted St. Petersburg on Sunday, Russian authorities said, forcing the airport to close for five hours as Vladimir Putin marked Russia's Navy Day in the city, despite the earlier cancellation of its naval parade due to security concerns.
St. Petersburg usually holds a large-scale, televised navy parade on Navy Day, which features a flotilla of warships and military vessels sailing down the Neva River and is attended by Putin.
Last year, Russia suspected a Ukrainian plan to attack the city's parade, according to state television.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Sunday that this year's parade had been cancelled for security reasons, following first reports of its cancellation in early July.

The Ukes had better step up their drone attacks on St. Petersburg and Moscow now, while they can then. Does Russia use mass transit buses for commuters at rush hour? Above ground trains that are full at busy times? Do they have stadiums that fill with spectators for sporting events?
If Putin could do more to stop these Ukraine drone strikes then he would. He can’t. Wait til the Ukes get 1000x the drones they currently have and start using them on Russian cities. The Russian soldiers at the Ukraine front lines will have to worry about their families back home in Russia too.

7 weeks left for Russia to make progress before the ground turns into a quagmire. Pokrovsk is a giant supply hub with 5 highways leading in and out. Ukraine’s troops have already withdrawn from the suburbs into the city center, where they will be droned and bombed into submission. Russia has plenty of time to take the city, which will cut major supply lines, crippling Ukraine’s ability to supply a large area of the front.
Ukraine needed to hold its outer defenses of the city but those have already been taken as Ukraine didn’t have enough troops to hold them. The same situation is happening all along the front, troops are spread thin and constantly being moved as Russia probes different areas. Every time Ukraine shores up an area threatened by Russian troop movements, they expose another area to attack.
I agree, terror attacks on Russian civilians is his aim. He’s given up on the war.
I understand. The more Russian civilians suffer and die from Ukranian drones, the better the Ukes do in the overall. So sad, too bad Russian civilians die and get maimed.
