We learned gerrymandering from Democrats

Sure, they’re upset now, but it wasn’t a problem when they were doing it (and they were doing it a lot).

As you may have heard, the Texas legislature is looking at redistricting. The Dems are not happy and will likely refer to Governor Abbott as a dictator. I’m sure that they will bring up that Hitler “gerrymandered” Germany. To say the least, the other side is angry and may fly out of the state again to make their point.

You may remember that the last time they tried it, some of them came back with COVID. I guess that they forgot to wear their masks or whispered too many sweet nothings during the flight.

The Democrat anger is a little hypocritical. They are experts at gerrymandering, as John Hinderaker wrote:

[I]f you didn’t know better, you would think that Republicans invented gerrymandering. The Times laments the fact that in responding to the GOP’s efforts, “the toolbox for Democrats is relatively sparse, aside from litigation or legislative protests.” If you read far enough, you find out why:

States where Democrats would have complete control over any redistricting, such as Illinois and Maryland, are already gerrymandered heavily in their favor. Squeezing more Democratic seats out of those states would be a challenge.

Indeed.

Illinois’s congressional delegation has a 14-to-3 Democratic advantage. Maryland’s is seven Democrats to one Republican. Both states would have to eliminate every Republican district to come close to offsetting the potential Texas changes.

When I was living in Arizona, the Kenyan sent a whole entourage of his Ubangis from the District of Corruption to Arizona to Gerrymander the state. Some retarded District of Corruption weaponized “judge” gave him the okay to do so.

Yep. Lefties enjoy these tactics when they’re in power and use them as weapons - and despise them when they’re out of power and used against them.

Filibuster and lawfare come to mind.

Missouri is trying the same thing by gerrymandering the KC area.

Reason #1,001 why I voted for Trump. The pre-Trump GOP would think that gerrymadering was beneath them and that they were the party that would take the “high road” and stand on “prinicple.” All the while the Dems cleaned their clocks. This is exactly what the GOP needs to do. And then enjoy the Dem screams.

Democrats invented gerrymandering - let's use it like they did and 'thank' them for the strategy...

We can't do democrat's 'importing millions of illegals/voters' because we're NOT scum of the earth like them. And we don't own the corrupt press. AND we 're not criminlals like Biden and his goons...

But gerrymandering IS legal so let's go for it.

Gerrymandering has transformed Illinois from a competitive “Purple” state into a solid “Blue” state. Nancy Pelosi actually urged the state Democrats to gerrymander Illinois in advance of the 2022 cycle to increase the number of Democrats in Congress.

As recently as 2010, under a Democrat map, the Republicans gained four seats in a swing election and held a 11-8 majority in the Illinois Congressional Delegation. Redistricting restored the Democrats to a 12-6 majority (the state lost one seat after the census).

If it weren’t for Gerrymandering, the Congressional Black Caucus wouldn’t exist as Southern states drew districts to ensure Black representatives were elected.

the toolbox for Democrats is relatively sparse, aside from litigation

And litigation you will have -- in spades. So any redistricting might not take effect until after 2026 as the cases wind their way through the courts.

Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan led GOP was not a true political party. If Trump did not do a soft takeover of the party in 2016, there would have been a schim and eventually a third party would emerge. Perhaps Rand Paul and Marjorie Taylor Greene would switch to Elon Musk's America Party by now.
