Someone or someones messed up. Xray is one thing, but then just cutting into it to actually determine/sample contents? Thats what remotely controlled tools are for.

I don’t care for the reporting on this incident.

Any explosives tech is trained to assume a device is live until confirmed otherwise by ‘making safe’ (disarming or detonating).

i.e., if it’s not a confirmed training grenade and not disarmed, it’s LIVE. I don’t care WHAT an xray may or may not show. Utter stupidity.

The dumbassery on display here had obvious tragic consequences and will forever be used as safety training for other bomb techs.

Just wondering if this means the entire hand grenade, unexploded is missing or whats left of it? Who writes these things?
