The order and details are so important.

Several years ago, I went in search of just the right doll for my outdoor Christmas manger display. When I found the perfect one for the job (i.e. vinyl only, articulated, blue eyes..), slight problem -- it was a "girl".

The facial features, however, were neutral, so...

A change of clothes to a blue "Mama's Boy" newborn onesie outfit, and Voila!

The real change effect concerns the hair, which is actually a cute design embossed into the vinyl. No hair but not bald, either.

I used two shades of orange Sharpies to trace and blend the lines and to soften the edges of the markings.

His hair is truly a work of art, even if I do say so myself.

And there you have it -- 'Reborn' Baby Doll, Ginger Jesus!
